1987 saw the creating of Air Max 1 because of technological and design breakthroughs in sneakers. The designer behind this was Tinker Hatfield. Hatfield was inspired by the Centre Georges Pompidou, which featured the interior of the building e.g. electric, plumbing, and a variety of colors on the outside. As a result of this, the first sneaker with an exposure Air bubble was released and the revolution of footwear design and running sneakers began. The Air Max line was born with a certified hit on Hatfield’s hands, and the urge to improve its look, the Air technology for better performance was also born. It experimented with the Nike Air Walker Max in 1988 then Air Max 1 was re-mixed to Air Max Light the following year. It has been one of the famous footwear lines in history. Since its launch, the sneaker has sold more units in the current day compared to 30 years ago. By having Nike Air branded plate on the heel and a bigger air bubble with a colorful outlook of the Air Max 90 it changed the perception of running shoes by people. The Air Max 90 was also popular outside the, UK, Japan, and the USA. Aussie designers come into the limelight with the release of the ‘Running Man’ AM90 in 2008. The view of the Air Max 90 in recent years has changed as it is seen as a throwback steeped in nostalgia. But still, the sneaker has its main structure from the basic made by Tinker Hatfield.
